Mango lassi has a wonderfully refreshing taste, especially when served cold. I adore the combination of sweet mangoes and tangy yogurt. Lassi can be prepared in a variety of ways, including salty. However I always prefer a fruit based lassi, those who know me, know I have a sweet tooth.

My take on how to make mango lassi
Mango lassi was something we always ordered when eating out at our favourite restaurants. It wasn’t something that we ever made at home. However, when I got married and starting hosting dinner parties, I wanted to be able to make my own traditional Indian drink to serve guests. This drink seemed liked the ultimate culmination of producing an authentic South Asian meal for my guests.
The recipe is so quick and easy and definitely restaurant standard! It really just adds the final layer of indulgence to any Pakistani feast. The beloved honey mangoes from Pakistan only are available for a short window of time in the UK. Therefore, I resorted to using mango pulp to make the beverage. Obviously, if you do want a more authentic mango lassi recipe, use fresh mangoes. The pulp is reliably sweet and of the optimum smooth consistency that I want when making this drink.
Tips and tricks on how to make mango lassi
If you prefer your lassi to be a runnier consistency, you can add additional milk. However I wouldn’t add too much more as it is a lassi, not a smoothie consistency you are after. Just check whether it needs further sugar and add to your taste.
If you want to make enough lassi for the 4 tall glasses shown above, double the ingredients below accordingly. The recipes scales up really well.

Ramadan drink
During Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting, lassi can play a significant role in providing hydration and nourishment for individuals observing the fast. Lassi is also enjoyed as a snack or dessert during non-fasting hours, providing a welcome treat after a day of fasting.
This tropical yoghurt drink always makes an appearance at my iftars (meals to break fasting in the month of Ramadan). It is a much healthier alternative to fizzy drinks that will quickly artificially fill you, after a day of fasting. Equally the drink can happily made for Eid too!
