Cooking Options for Juicy Homemade Burgers
It is currently July as I am writing this post, and looking outside my window at the Yorkshire summer, I see thick grey clouds and rain. So when the British weather fails me, as it often does, I will make up patties with the beef mince mix and shallow fry them in a frying pan.
If you want a healthier cooking edge, then air fry the onions. I always spray the onions with some olive oil then air fry them. Once they are softened and slightly browned, add them to the mince mix and then air fry these homemade spicy beef burgers as per your air fryer instructions. Or you can can grill them or bake them in the oven on the Scoville baking trays (which are non stick so no additional oil required). However you cook them, these spicy beef burgers are delicious, the children can not get enough of them.
As the burgers take only a matter of minutes to cook, they make an easy spicy burger recipe for beginners and they also make another great weeknight dinner option. Grilling them is another healthy option and it will only take a few minutes to cook on each side. You could change the beef mince for lamb or chicken mince alternatively. The marinade works well with either. However I would prefer lamb mince over chicken mince, as I think harissa pairs lovely with a richer meaty flavour.

How to make up the Spicy Beef Burger Mince into Patties
My mum kindly bought me a patty press maker when I was newly married. I had never really made burgers, but felt obliged to try it out once I had the contraption. To give the burgers that professional edge, I like to use a burger patty press maker. This is purely for presentation, it does not add anything to the flavour. If you do not have a burger patties, just make the patties by rolling a ball of the mince mixture into a sphere, then flattening them with the palm of your hand. You can neaten up the edges to a more circular shape.

Freezing the Spicy Beef Burger
If you are really organised, you can freeze the patties in advance. Put some baking paper between the patties so they do not stick together and then put them in an airtight container in the freezer. Before you want to eat them, let the burgers defrost in the fridge and then cook as per your cooking preference.
Serving Suggestions for a Spicy Beef Burger
I actually quite like to continue the spice trend with these spicy beef burgers and serve them with my spicy sweetcorn. You can make this with corn or the cob or tinned/frozen sweetcorn, whatever you prefer. The beef and sweetcorn compliment each other beautifully.
I also like to add some condiments options for this burger. One of which will usually be a spicy mayonnaise as a condiment for this burger. Add 300ml of mayonnaise, 2 teaspoons of harissa powder, 1/4 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp of red chilli powder and mix together. It works really well with the burger. I would also serve these burgers with my tomato chutney for a more tomato based sauce.
I don’t know about you, but I love onions. I shallow fry some extra red onions to top the burger, with the spicy mayonnaise, a slice of cheese and a green leafy salad you are ready to enjoy this restaurant style beef burger.
